Battlefield Bad Company 2 Servers Down after only 7hrs 30min… and now back up!!
Servers on East Coast were up at 1am today and, now at 9:30pm, they are down. It appears to be a authentication server issue. No update on Battlefield blog yet. Waiting for a word from them.
UPDATE: And just like that they are back up, 10 min later. A delightful hiccup. Although I’m sure EA has some angry gamers on their hands, BC2 is still doing fine with only 10min so far where it was unplayable. Lets hope that was the bulk of it.
It was unplayable for a lot of folks for a few hours. It was an opportunity to do the single player for a while. Or here was a concept, go do something else. It’s just a game and will be here for a while.
You should have seen the venom in those EA forums. :)
Oh, I’ll state again that I think 10 min ain’t no thang. I commend EA for handling the West Coast login as well as they did. Furthermore, we are in agreement that a gamer should be able to find something to do for 10 min of down time.
On your forum notes, though, I jumped over to EA’s Forums and was actually surprised to see gamers maintaining a fairly positive attitude. Most complaints in the main thread regarding the downtime had a chaser similar to “this game is awesome and I just want to get back in!”. I’ve counted only one instance in thread where the general idea was “ZOMG! I WANTS REFUNDS!! RETURNING SHITE GAME 2MOROW!”. That really doesn’t seem all that bad. Were the venomous threads elsewhere? It would be a hoot to post a few of the best quotes up here so point us in the right direction.
