Don’t use them!  This has come up in a few different places, but apparently the latest iteration of nVidia’s graphics drivers are causing video cards to overheat and die.  Tom’s Hardware has a blurb about it, with nVidia and others claiming that it’s being caused by the fans.  The drivers have been removed from the nVidia download site.  What’s interesting is what is being said over on the nVidia forums.  Apparently the problem isn’t universal.  It only seems to happen if you use automatic cooling profiles.  If you manually set your fan profiles, it shouldn’t be an issue.  However, if you’ve downloaded it, it might be better to revert to the older drivers, which are back up on nVidia’s website.

Apparently you might as well be doing this if you use automatic fan controls
